In an atmosphere of great excitement, Saturday, March 13, 2021 saw the announcement of the results and the presentation of prizes in this year’s school spelling contest among 30 students of the Polish School of St. Thomas. Gen. K. Pulaski who took part in it.
The spelling contest consisted of inserting the correct letter in place of the dots: “rz”, “ż”, “ó”, “u”, “h” and “ch” after listening to the recording twice. There was no flawless work and therefore no 1st place was awarded.
The winners of the 2021 School Spelling Contest were:
Second place with one mistake: Isabell Magiera and Izabela Lenarczyk from Class 5a, Gabriela Pindor from Class 5b, Dominika Pindor from Class 1LO, and Aleksandra Kajderowicz, Jakub Kowalik and Angelika Wlodyka from Class 2LO.
Third place with two errors went to the following students: Laura Krowiak and Angelica Popieluszko from Class 7a, Natalia Wlodyka from Class 8a and Agnieszka Marcinek from Class 8b.
This year’s DYKTAND sponsor was the Polish Slavic Federal Credit Union. The winners of the Spelling Contest received cash certificates: 2nd place – $75 and 3rd place – $50, as well as small gifts donated by PSFCU. In addition, all participants in the dictation received diplomas and chocolates donated by the school board.
Many thanks to the manager of PSFCU in Norridge, Mrs. Anna Czarnecka-Hebal for sponsoring the school competition and personally presenting the prizes.
The media sponsors of the dictation were “Dziennik Związkowy”-photojournalist Darek Pilka, weekly “Express”-photojournalist Andrzej Baraniak, and biweekly Polish newspaper “Polar Star”-photojournalist Andrzej Moniuszko.
For 7 years now, school dictations have been prepared and evaluated by the teacher, Mrs. Jolanta Plesiewicz. Thank you.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the dictation and faced Polish spelling. Congratulations to the winners and today we encourage you to face Polish spelling next year.
