Communion 2013.
11 May 2013 at St. Rosalie Church in Harwood Heights, second grade children
for the first time they accepted the Lord Jesus into their hearts.
For two years the children had been preparing for this encounter with the Lord Jesus: they attended Saturday catechesis, on Sundays together with their families they participated in Holy Masses, they also received the Sacrament of Penance.
The Holy Mass and homily were delivered by Father Bogdan Olzacki. In his homily, Father Bogdan drew attention to the essence of the celebration of the First Communion. He also recalled that it was Baptism that enabled children to experience their First Holy Communion. At the end of the homily, the children renewed their baptismal promises. During the procession with gifts, the children offered candles, bread, flowers, grapes, wine and water. After receiving Holy Communion, they sang;
Lady Jesus we will take you home
Lord Jesus, we will not give You to anyone…….
It is wonderful when young people approach God. It is remarkable when in the eyes of a child you can see the joy that he exceeds “a certain level” , becomes more adult and finally can begin to participate in something that was once reserved only for the “elderly”.
After the Holy Mass there were thanks and common photos.
Jesus, Sweetest Father and Lord,
today is my first meeting with you.
Accept as a sacrifice my little heart,
To love you throughout your life.
After receiving the first Holy Communion. children participated in the so-called. White Week. White Week is a reference to the tradition of the catechumenate from the first centuries of the Church, when the newly baptized throughout the week after Baptism. they wore white robes. White Week is a great opportunity to accustom children who are receiving Holy Communion for the first time. to participate properly in the Eucharist.
