Nativity play 2013

Appeared on earth
An almost invisible being:
Her name was –
The Redeemer, the Prince of Peace.
It’s a small baby
It really transformed the world.

Roland Leonhardt

The feast of Christmas was introduced into the calendar of church holidays in the IV century. Two hundred years later, the tradition of evening dinner, called Christmas Eve, was established. The Christmas Eve supper is an echo of the old Christian tradition of eating together, called agape from the Greek language, which is a symbol of brotherhood and love between people.
The custom inherent in Christmas is the nativity play. They take us back to distant times and remind us that the Savior was born in Bethlehem. They are modeled on the medieval Franciscan mysteries, and the name derives from the old Polish word jasło meaning manger.
On Saturday, December 21, the atmosphere of magical Christmas time prevailed in our school. Teachers, students and invited guests (m.in Mrs. Elżbieta Górnikiewicz – long-time president of the school, Mrs. Witold Pawlikowski – long-time president of the school, parish priest of St. Rosalie – Father Tadeusz Olzacki) sat at one table to celebrate these unique holidays, and as every year to recall the history of the birth of Jesus.
The ceremony began with The headmistress Agata Michalkiewicz and the Vice-President of the Management Board Marlena Szalast, who made Christmas wishes to teachers, students, parents, all school employees and invited guests. Then, according to tradition, before a common meal, everyone present shared a wafer. On the tables there were delicious Christmas Eve dishes. After feasting together, the time has come for the nativity play awaited by everyone.
The students, in specially prepared costumes and beautiful scenography, presented scenes from the birth of Christ. Young actors with great commitment and dedication faithfully recreated their roles. It is worth mentioning that the preparations for the performance lasted several weeks, the students devoted a lot of time to rehearsals in order to fully convey the joy of the birth of the Lord. The nativity play was prepared under the direction of Mrs. Zofia Biernadska, with the invaluable help of Mrs. Bożena Kargol-Chomiczewski and Mrs. Bożena Szewczyk.
The spectacle performed by the students won the hearts of the entire audience, they received thunderous applause, which was an expression of appreciation for the beautiful performance.
At the end, the Director thanked the young artists for the wonderful performance and once again wished everyone a joyful Christmas.
