On February 19, 2012, once again held at the Polish School named after him. Gen. Kazimierz Pulaski in Harwood Hts. carnival fun. It was attended by children from the kindergarten department, students in grades I-V along with their parents, teachers, members of the Parent Committee and friends of the school. About two hundred children enjoyed themselves in the school cafeteria, which was beautifully decorated with white Christmas trees, twinkling stars and colorful baubles and turned into an extraordinary ballroom for several hours.
Disguise balls are always a lot of fun for both young and older children. It is during such events that children’s dreams come true. Our kids like, at least for a few hours, to impersonate their favorite characters from fairy tales, books or movies. So there was no shortage of outfit ideas! The children presented themselves in wonderful costumes. There were princesses, fairies, witches, pirates, Indians, warriors and many other unusual characters.
The carnival party was led by ladies Elzbieta Bartnik and Anna Lesniakowska with the active help of all teachers. It was thanks to their involvement that the “little ones” had a great time. A number of movement and music games and many competitions were prepared and held to make the children’s fun more enjoyable. Winners of the contests were rewarded with candy and small gifts. High school class students rushed to help with the fun: Roxana Lech and Marcelina Puc. It was thanks to them that colorful paintings appeared on the faces and hands of our “little ones”.
One of the many highlights of that Sunday afternoon was the arrival of Mrs. Winter. This role was played by teacher Anna Rosa, accompanied by two snowflakes Olivia and Julia Bartnik, who, to the sounds of well-known and well-loved children’s hits, roused children and parents to play together.
The highlight of the carnival fun was the election of the king and queen of the ball. The judges took into account the costume idea and dance skills. Warm refreshments awaited the tired dancers. Our kids ate pizza with great appetite and sipped on juices. The organizers also did not forget about parents. In between the dancing, one could drink coffee, eat homemade cakes prepared by the ladies of the Parents’ Committee, or try bigos with sausages.
During the party there was also a fancy-dress raffle, which was conducted by Director Agata Michalkiewicz and President Agata Wozny. The main prizes were a decoder donated by PolTV with one year’s free access to 20 Polish TV programs and 10 radio programs, and a one-year subscription to Polonia Magazine.
The carnival party is becoming more and more popular every year, not only among the students and parents of our school, but also among children from other schools. Everyone is welcome! There is nothing more beautiful and precious in the world than a child’s smile painted while playing on the faces of amused toddlers. We would like to thank all the people who organized the event, namely. Mrs. Director Agata Michalkiewicz, Mrs. President Agata Wozny, members of the Parent Committee, teachers and you dear students and parents for honoring us in such large numbers with your presence. See you next year.
