On January 27, in the “Drury Lane” ballroom in Oak Brook, under the patronage of the Association of Polish Teachers, the 25th jubilee prom took place. The host of this year’s event was the school im. Mary Margaret of Algonquin. Until midnight, several hundred of this year’s high school graduates from 35 Saturday schools were playing in excellent moods. Our school was represented by the headmistress Agata Michałkiewicz, the teacher of the matura class Mrs. Bożena Dąbrowska and students: Natalia Ciupiński, Brajan Hendzel, Benjamin Kulis and Kamil Zygadło.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, Polish diaspora activists, as well as the Consul General Mr. Piotr Janicki, who announced that the best high school graduates will have the honor of receiving their school diplomas from the hands of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, who will come to Chicago in May this year.
Scholarships were drawn among the best students, and Polish Airlines “Lot” funded a ticket to the Polish. The artistic setting of this year’s prom was taken care of by the bands “Szepty” and “Lajkonik”, serving the audience a bouquet of Krakow dances and energetic swing.
The polonaise could not be missing, to which traditionally all high school graduates joined. Then came the moment eagerly awaited by the youth, when Piotr Marszałek took over the control of the stage and the dance madness began.
Dear high school graduates! Thank you for a wonderful evening and we wish you a break of feathers at the final exams!
