Pulaski Day

On Monday, March 3, 2014, students of the Polish School of Fine Arts. General Casimir Pulaski in Harwood Heights, during the annual celebrations in connection with the celebration of Pulaski Day, received two main prizes and a distinction for participation in a competition in which it was necessary to write a justification essay: “Why should we celebrate in Illinois
a special day to commemorate General Casimir Pulaski, a hero of two nations?”
The first place was taken by an essay written by Carolina Jadczak, the second place was taken by Elżbieta Skorupski, while Rafał Raszewski received a distinction.
During the ceremony, our students were accompanied by their parents: mothers, ladies: Bogumiła Raszewska and Joanna Skorupski and Mr. Zygmunt Jadczak, Carolina’s dad.
The school was represented by: headmistress Agata Michalkiewicz and teacher Jolanta Plesiewicz.
During the banquet, in addition to receiving valuable awards and official congratulations, our students had the honor and opportunity to meet in person with important, generally known people from Chicago public life with Mr. Frank Spela, President of the Polish American Congress and the Polish National Union, and Pat Quinn – Governor of Illinois.
Thanks to the efforts of the Polish community, including the work of our students in Illinois, we will continue to celebrate Pulaski Day.
