The essay contest is over – we have second place!
Josephine Saturday has become a traditional date when the Council of Polish Teachers organizes a gala dinner combined with an awards gala for the winners of the competition for the best essay. This year’s theme is: ” Tadeusz Kościuszko – a hero of two nations. Evaluate his merits in the struggle for independence Polish and the United States.” The final of the competition took place in a joyful and at the same time solemn atmosphere in the Lone Tree Inn restaurant in Niles, where the winners of the awards, their parents, competition organizers, school principals, teachers, media representatives and invited guests gathered. The second place was taken by Brajan Hendzel, a student of the second grade of our school, who came to this ceremony in the company of his mother Krystyna, Headmistress Agata Michałkiewicz and educator Bożena Dąbrowska. As emphasized by the host of the gala, Mrs. Ewa Jabłońska, all the awarded works were at a high level. Students received diplomas, monetary gratifications, and great book prizes. The highlight of the evening was a raffle, a silent auction and a performance of the ZHP theatre group, and the musical setting was provided by young Polish violinists and clarinetists.
It was an unforgettable evening, and let the words of our laureate be the summary; ” I am glad that I could participate in this competition, because I had the opportunity to test my writing skills, deepen my knowledge and express my thoughts and feelings about Kościuszko called, together with the patron of my school, General Kazimierz Pulaski, the hero of two nations. I am also pleased to have been able to represent our school once again.” Thank you for that and congratulations brajan!
